Gazi Rubber Plantation
Cultivating Excellence Since 2016
Journey of Gazi Rubber Plantation
Gazi Rubber Processing Plants:
In 2016, to achieve the goal of providing the primary raw material to produce Tyres and tubes, 22 acres of land were purchased at Kumari in the Phansiakhali Union of Lama Upazila of the Bandarban district. Land development work began in 2017, and the construction of the factory, Unit-1 (known as Kumari), began in January 2020. Unit-2 (Lakshikhari), a new unit processing plant at the Gazi Rubber Processing Plant, was put into service in May 2022 along with one rubber plantation. Unit-3 (Sarai), another new unit processing plant, was put into service in September 2022 along with one rubber plantation.
In 2021–2022, the combined collection of the three units is around 1800 tones. In the meantime, the three units saw a gradual growth in the number of fiber providers and the quantity of fiber produced; daily fiber collection in 2023 during the peak season (October 15 to February 15) was 29772 kg, and during the off-peak season (February 16 to October 14) was 10055.45 kg. In 2023, a maximum of 138 rubber farms were gathered into three groups. 1354 tons of rubber (RSS-1) will be produced overall in 2023. In high season, 8 tons of rubber (RSS-1) are produced daily; in off-peak, 5 tones. Currently, the three units collect about 35,000 kg of pulp on a daily average.
Gazi Rubber Plantation:
Gazi Rubber Plantation established rubber plantations in three units: Lakshichhari (Unit-1), Tongajheedi (Unit-2), and Sarai (Unit-3) to lessen reliance on foreign raw material imports and increase production of rubber, one of the primary raw materials for rubber. Acknowledged that although there are solely three units producing latex now, more could potentially be added future.
The overall area of Gazi Rubber Plantation is 297 acres in the Lakshimchhari zone, 142 acres in the Tongajhiri area, and 92 acres in the Sarai zone. Latex is being produced on 531 acres of rubber plants. 48,800 of the 83,971 rubber trees that are present in the three units are now being harvested. The remaining trees will shortly start producing latex. Unit-1 rubber plantation produces 800 kg of rubber on average each day. From the rubber plantation, Unit-2 produces 500 kg of rubber on average per day, and Unit-3 will soon begin harvesting.
